New

I have a new obsession. My sister-in-law the teacher turned me on to the Twilight books by Stephanie Meyer. It's nowhere near the level of Harry Potter, but I am enjoying them immensely nonetheless. That's a word that doesn't work as well when it's written, nonetheless. I had to look it up and everything, because it just wasn't coming out right. But it was the word I was saying in my head and nothing else fit, so there you have it.
Anyway, I have read all three books in the series so far, and I am anxiously awaiting the fourth book in late summer. I have devoured the website (it's on the sidebar now) and downloaded all of the songs from her playlists. I am now reading the first book out loud to the Vansome. Well, not so much right now, as I am typing in the living room and he's waiting for me in the bedroom. Just to clarify-he's waiting for me to read to him, because we're all old married folks now.

We also have a new member of the family that I've neglected to write about previously. The Boy got a Ball Python from Santa this year. She was nameless until just this week, actually. We just assumed she was a he at first, because, well, all snakes just look like boys, don't they? Well they do to me, and obviously The Boy thought so too. So we went through a string of boy names, but none seemed right. I liked Nate, after one of my favorite Pap jokes. The Boy hopped around between quite a few before settling on Brudda, which I hated and couldn't bring myself to say, ever. Usually I just called her Snakey. The Boy used that one a lot, too.

A few weeks ago The Boy researched enough to come to the definitive conclusion that Brudda was a Sista. Last week he settled on the name Pickles. I didn't mind that so much. I have a friend who had a dog named Pickle, and I thought that was a cute name. But last week I started calling her Bella, and I like it. I didn't exactly name her after the main character in Twilight, but I will admit that's why the name was in my head. It just fits the snake, though. She really is a beautiful thing. Except for the dead skin still stuck around her neck. She has shedding difficulties. But anyway, The Boy was easily sold this weekend, so Bella it is. Maybe I'll find time to get a picture up before American Idol starts tomorrow night.
